It all began in June 1932 on the front porch of a Grove Beach summer home belonging to the parents of our first commodore, William H. West. Bill and his friends Robert Floyd and Jan Taylor had recently graduated from college. Bill found work as a lawyer in New York City. His two friends, still unemployed and seeking ways to make money, planned to sell Dyer Dinks at the Larchmont YC Race Week. They thought if they raced the Dyers well, they would sell a few of them. However, only members of a YC could race at Larchmont.

The GLP Yacht Club, traditionally a sailing club, offers classes for children from beginner level in the inner lagoon through competitive level out in the open sound. The GLPYC does not own boats or provide rentals. Members must arrange ownership or rental of boats independently.
Indian Harbor YC
East of the present clubhouse is a half-mile long estuary still known as Indian Harbor. Around 1870 it was here that the infamous Tammany Hall character Boss Tweed built a large meeting hall and a hotel on the water's edge, which he called the Americus Club. He tried to persuade his rowdy politico members from New York City to wear nautical finery and to become interested in the new and rapidly expanding sport of yachting on the protected waters in front of the building…

New Haven YC
The New Haven YC is located in the Morris Cove section of New Haven, Connecticut on the east side of New Haven Harbor. We are only five minutes from Interstate 95. Members sail off moorings in the harbor or dry sail from the club dock. In a matter of minutes, they are sailing in Long Island Sound.
The New Haven YC was chartered by a Special Act of the Connecticut Assembly in 1882, making it one of the oldest chartered YCs in the nation. Read our club history. The NHYC sponsors the annual Mayor's Cup Race.

NBYC's waterfront is maintained by the staff of YC stewards under the guidance of the waterfront committee.
Noroton YC, founded in 1928, is dedicated to promoting family participation in sailboat racing and recreational sailing. The Club is located in the Darien Harbor, just West of Long Neck Point, with easy access to Long Island Sound.
North Cove YC
The object of this club shall be to encourage the sport of yachting, to promote the science of seamanship and navigation. and to provide and maintain a suitable Club House and other facilities for the recreation and use of its members.
Norwalk Yacht Club is dedicated to providing opportunities for fellow yachtsmen to share expertise, enjoyment and adventure in an active yachting environment. The Club is committed to promoting marine safety, education at all skill levels, and the development of camaraderie among its membership.
The Old Greenwich YC welcomes all Greenwich residents with an interest in boating - regardless of knowledge, ability or boat ownership. From the experienced to new participants, anyone wishing to make the most of boating on the Long Island Sound will find a family oriented home port at OGYC.
Old Mystic Marina & YC
Pequot YC, in Southport, CT, was established in 1920 to encourage
interest in sailing. Since that time, members have been active
cruisers and racers in the sport at the regional, national
and international levels.
Today, the Club supports an active Junior program, a large cruising fleet, Ideal 18s, and a Dyer Dhow frostbite contingent. The innovative Ideal 18 program, which provides Club-owned boats for members' use, was nationally recognized in 1993 when US Sailing named Pequot the One-Design YC of the Year.
Pettipaug YC Inc. had it's beginning in 1934 when a group led by Meade Menagerie, Dr. Charles Winne, Jess Halliday, Bill Sangster, Wright Mccallip and Frederick Koehler gathered to form what was then the Hi and Dry YC. These men were principally interested in racing off the Great Meadows in Essex.

Sailing for the Williams School Nate Fast '09 and Dan Nickerson '11 qualified for the High School Nationals to be held in St Pete. Williams pulled off an amazing run at the end of the regatta to snatch the 4th and final qualifying spot .
n the evening of May 25, 1888 George I. Tyson, a prominent summer resident of Riverside and an enthusiastic yachtsman, invited 10 of his friends to meet with him at his home to consider and act upon his plan to establish a Yacht Club in the community. George Tyson provided an acre or so of waterfront land, and he offered to finance the construction and equipping of a clubhouse. In return for this, a token rental was charged.
Sachem Head YC
The Sachem's Head YC is located on the Connecticut shore of Long Island Sound, in Guilford, Connecticut. The clubhouse near the Thimble Islands, serves an active racing fleet and is a summer base for families and juniors involved in sailing, swimming and tennis. The club was founded in 1896.
Shennecossett YC is home port to over 400 members and more than 300 vessels, sail and power, from 7 to 50 feet. SYC is an active cruising club whose members have ventured south to Florida, Bahamas, Bermuda, the Caribbean, Venezuela and even the Pacific. Our members have left our burgee displayed in ports of call in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and the Islands and north into the rivers and inlets of Maine and Nova Scotia. We also have a strong racing contingent with participants in many of the local racing associations as well as popular offshore competitions.
The Club is located on the Thames River with direct access to the Long Island and Fishers Island sounds.

West Haven YC
The Yale Corinthian Yacht Club , established in 1881, is the oldest collegiate sailing club in the world. Located on a beautiful rocky cove in Branford, CT., the club is a state of the art sailing facility and home to the Yale Varsity Sailing Team. The fleet consists of twenty-four 420 racing dinghies, augmented by FJs, Lasers, windsurfers and three safety launches. Our sailing area is located on open water and boasts what may be the finest wind and waves in all of college sailing.
